The British Military Tournament will be a hugely popular, exciting and unmissable event, and a unique opportunity to witness first-hand our heroic soldiers in all of their glory. The British Military Tournament is a new, exhilarating spectacle which re-instates the much-loved tradition of military display by our British Army with narration by Anthony Andrews, and recorded contributions from Joanna Lumley, Stephen Fry and Dame Judy Dench. In aid of ABF The Soldiers’ Charity, this magnificent event not only re-creates episodes in the history of the British Army on a huge scale, from the Civil War right up to modern day combat in Afghanistan, but also presents a fantastic opportunity to marvel at an array of awe-inspiring performances of military action and precision. ABF The Soldiers’ Charity gives lifetime support to serving and retired soldiers and their families, providing invaluable financial assistance in their times of need. These courageous men and women risk their all for us and our country, and the Charity ensures that in return they receive the help they need to secure a better future. They believe that it is the very least that the soldiers’ outstanding bravery deserves. The Charity aims to stand firmly by our soldiers and veterans, in conflict and peacetime, to support them and their families just as they have so valiantly defended our lives and our way of life. But to do this, they rely entirely on your donations and goodwill. They have recently seen a 30% year on year rise in applications from soldiers, and at present raise £7 million to meet this need. But with requests expected to rise significantly in the coming years due to current operations, The Soldiers’ Charity need to increase fundraising to £14 million a year by 2015 to ensure that they can reach out to every soldier that needs their help. The programme includes; - A staggering 500 troops, 250 military musicians,
- 145 horses and modern military vehicles
- The return of the famous Command Field Gun Run, featuring two crews from Wellington College CCF battling it out in a dramatic, nail-biting contest over the walls and chasms of an obstacle course
